This book achieved Rank #1 in the Small Business category in the Amazon Kindle store in Japan, has been named a KDPS Monthly All-Star multiple times, and has received high praise from many readers. I decided to rework the content and publish an English version for the enjoyment of English speakers everywhere.
There is a stereotype that Japanese people are not good at communication, and even among them, I am particularly bad at socializing. I’m not suited for business at all. I can’t even look people in the eyes during meetings. I was 35 years old when I started my small business. I was unemployed. I couldn’t find a job, so I went all in on my own business. Nobody around me expected it to go well, and I myself didn’t even have confidence that I would succeed.
2 Years later… While living in the countryside, far away from the big city, I was making $100,000 a year and the number kept going up. All with no initial investment, experience, connections, or track record in business.
How exactly did I do it?
How did someone like me manage to achieve this small success and financial freedom? Maybe it was just luck?
If you look through the table of contents of this book, I think you’ll find it wasn’t just luck. This book isn’t about earning money effortlessly or elite investing techniques. This is a guidebook for people without capital to reach success through steady and appropriate effort.
Specifically, it covers things to keep in mind during the preparation stage of starting a business, procedures for building services, how to write effective DMs (direct mails), and how to attract customers without spending money on advertising. Ideas and methods essential to getting a service off the ground or reviving a stalled service have been compiled within, for each stage of entrepreneurship.
Everything in this book is something I learned by doing without any prior knowledge, and through repeated hardships and failures to the point I thought I’d die. I think it will be useful for those who have already started a business as well as those who are thinking about starting but are hesitant.
In addition, the contents of this book are not tailored to ‘capable’ people. They don’t include advanced document preparation techniques or presentation skills needed to impress others. There’s no difficult or puzzling business jargon. The contents are short, concise, and easy to understand.
I hope you will turn the first page with a light heart and enjoy this book just like you’re reading any other story.
