Description
Say you have a lesson and think your content can be more impactful with a few simple 2D digital animations. Digital animations have the potential to explain the relationships between concepts as they change over time. They usually are expensive and time-consuming to create.Your learners are very important to you, so you want to give them your best., but you do not have the budget or time to deploy a team of graphic designers. With a big budget, large-scale project, it will be worthwhile to invest in expensive resources and platforms, including graphic designers. There will even be a payback for you to learn to use new graphic design tools yourself to support your project. But what if you do not have the luxury of a big budget or lots of time? What do you do?It turns out, you may already have all the resources on your workstation to create and deploy fit-for-purpose 2D animations for any lesson. Your Gmail account, which is easy to get, if you do not already have one, also gives you access to first-class resources at zero costs. The purpose of this course is to help you create and deploy digital animations like a professional, using nothing more than PowerPoint and free resources already available to you! When COVID happened, in 2020, we had to quickly make alternate plans to get to our students so that no one’s progress was jeopardized by the pandemic. We found that we could easily, and with minimal costs continue to convey the important concepts of our content with our own homemade graphical animations. In this course, I will show you how we planned to do some of that. Fortunately, COVID abated only after a few months, long before we could fully implement all the ideas that form the basis of this course. If you do an online search for the term “Graphic Animation for Education”, chances are, you will uncover a host of helpful sites that will try to convince you to use their tools. In the time that it will take you to test drive five of the tools uncovered by your search, you could already have created your first animation in PowerPoint. By the time you have learned to use one of these tools, you could have completed five PowerPoint animations. You would also discover that “free is not totally free”. At some point, you will hit a paywall, or the functionality offered is limited in some way. As an educator, you should already have access to PowerPoint. If not, an Office 365 subscription will not break the bank in the same way a Graphic Animation package or professional animators will.Who is this course for? Anybody that needs to communicate concepts and their relationships that change over time. There is an adage that says: "Use a picture. It is worth a thousand words.” We could add to this saying: “use a moving picture. It is worth ten thousand words”. Because educators in front of classes or online are the ones that will be saving ten thousand words, this course has been developed with them in mind. What value will you get out of this course? At the end of it, you will be able to make your invaluable contribution to your learners even more valuable with scientifically informed educational animations. You will have access to the course forever. In addition, you will also have access to the original PowerPoint presentations to be able to copy the techniques that I have used to get the animations to work properly. Additional resources will be added, from time to time. You could use these in your education community to assist other teachers in growing professionally, to become educational animators as well.
Who this course is for
People that need to communicate concepts, in an educational or corporate environment or in a private capacity.
A typical candidate will be a person preparing to enter (or re-enter) a profession where strong communication skills are required, especially digital communication skills.
