Creo Harness Manufacturing
3D Edit Retention
HMX now supports a fully iterative design process. With 3D Edit Retention, you can edit the harness in the three-dimensional assembly by adding, deleting, or editing wires, cables, and connectors while retaining the previous edits made to the drawing.
Benefits: This enhancement significantly reduces the time spent on post drawing cleanup activities.
Productivity Enhancements in HMX
The following capabilities have been improved in HMX:
– Splice handling for assemblies with increased splice complexities.
– Additional table customizations.
– Retention of user generated tables.
– Selection of starting connectors for flattening a harness.
– Retention of selected note types.
– Customization of drawing names.
Benefits: The enhancements made to these capabilities improve productivity and user experience.
Detailed Drawings
Blanking of Exterior Cell Borders in Drawing Tables
You can now blank some or all table cell borders in drawings. This enhancement is useful when you want to organize and align an array of general notes, without showing the table borders around them.
For example, you can create a table of general notes and blank all the cell borders to make it look like a simple list.

Fixed Scale and Color Support for PAT Hatch Patterns
You can now define PAT hatch patterns with a fixed scale that is not dependent on the model outline. You can also predefine the color of PAT hatch patterns.
When you apply hatching in drawings and models, the scale is automatically calculated based on the outline of the hatched area. In some use cases, you may want to have a fixed scale of hatching, regardless of the size of the hatched outline.
To enable the fixed scale, you must first set the new configuration option hatch_pattern_scale_in_drw to fixed.
In addition, you must add the following line to the corresponding hatching patterns in the hatch_pattern_scale.cfg file: PTC_HATCH_FIXED_SCALE.
The location of the hatch_pattern_scale.cfg file may be defined by using the hatch_pattern_cfg_file configuration option.
You can now also specify the color to be used for the hatching lines as part of the hatch pattern definition.
Define the RGB color values for the hatching lines of a specific hatch pattern in one of the following ways:
– Using the Hatch Designer tool, which now contains a color widget that you can use during the hatch pattern definition.
– By adding the following line to the corresponding hatching patterns in the hatch_pattern_scale.cfg file: PTC_HATCH_COLOR_RGB.
New ISO Standard-Compliant Symbols
Two new symbols defined according to the latest ISO standards are added to the symbol gallery for the drawing and model-based definitions. These symbols provide improved compliance with the detailing standards.
The new symbols are:
– ISO 13715:2017-It is an edge indicator symbol.
– ISO 21204:2020-It is an transition symbol.
The symbols also include parameter tagging. When the symbols are placed in the model environment, relevant parameters are created on the symbol instance.
New ISO 21920:2021 Surface Finish Symbol
New ISO 21920:2021 surface finish symbol defined according to the latest ISO standards is added to the surface finish gallery for the drawing and model-based definitions. This surface finish symbol provides improved compliance with the detailing standards.
The surface finish also include parameter tagging. When the surface finish is placed in the model environment, relevant parameters are created on the surface finish instance.
Part Modeling
Enhancement: Streamlined Placement of Legacy UDFs (User-Defined Features)
In Creo 10.0, the placement of user-defined features (UDFs) is streamlined for UDFs that reference just a single body. The enhanced UDF placement workflow for these UDFs now automatically populates the body reference collector with the default body, if it is valid. This is always the case for UDFs created in Creo 7.0 or earlier (before the multibody capabilities had been introduced), but it also applies to UDFs created in newer versions of Creo.
This solves the problem that with the introduction of multibody capabilities, an additional selection step to select the body reference was required.
The body reference is not automatically populated in the following cases:
– The body reference is the single reference exposed by the UDF.
– The current default body is not a valid reference for the UDF body reference to be populated.
Benefits: Increased productivity when placing UDFs.
